Target and Radio Rentals both tried to use this morning's gala opening for Canberra's first Apple Retail Store, and Australia's 16th overall, to increase their own business.

In the first instance, Target tried to lure queueing fanboys away from the store with a clown. This was followed up by Radio Rentals staff handing out fliers promoting its product leasing arrangements on Apple products.

A security guard turns away the Target clown just prior to the Apple Store's opening.

The Radio Rentals flier being handed out to customers queueing to the enter the Apple store. The store being promoted by this flier is not even in the same shopping mall as the Apple Store.
