Exclusively sold through Kmart.
The Kambrook Essentials Microwave Oven 30L (model KMO400), which was sold between September 2008 and September 2013 at Kmart stores nationally, has been recalled.
There is potential for a component failure that may result in a fire, potentially causing injury to users or damage to surrounding areas.
Consumers are urged to stop using the appliance and unplug it from the socket outlet. Consumers are advised to return the unit to any Kmart store in exchange for a replacement of the same model as the fault is only batch related.
In a statement supplied to Appliance Retailer, Breville Australia and New Zealand general manager, Mark O’Kelly said, “This recall is voluntary and is being undertaken as a precautionary measure. We are asking consumers to identify if they have this microwave in their possession and, if so, to return it to any Kmart store for a replacement Kambrook Essentials Microwave Oven 30L (KMO400) free of charge. No proof of purchase is required.
“Kmart staff can reassure consumers the defect is only batch related, and current stock can be confidently replaced as an exchange unit in-store.”
Kmart staff have been notified and a dedicated Kambrook recall hotline and website have been established to assist with enquiries: 1800 500 188 or www.kambrook.com.au/recall.
