Murray Barnes, national sales manager for small appliances brand Morphy Richards, has announced his departure from ASKO Appliances, the company that owns the brand. Barnes left ASKO on Friday 18 January after 13 years at the company, telling Current.com.au he was departing “to pursue an exciting new personal business opportunity that has recently become available”.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my friends and colleagues at Asko and Morphy Richards and my retail partners for supporting me through those years,” Barnes said.
“During the past eight years my team and I were fortunate to have had the opportunity to launch and grow Morphy Richards Small Appliances into a respected premium brand in the Australian market, and I am very proud of and appreciative for that opportunity.”

The news comes one month after ASKO Appliances announced a restructure for its Australian business under new managing director Crt Prasnikar. The company, which operates under a pro forma model similar to Miele, will be reorganised from a network of individual state managers into a group of category managers that will cover the whole of Australia.
