Lavazza has introduced a range of carbon-neutral Nespresso-compatible coffee capsules – a first of its kind for the Australian market.

To celebrate the launch, Lavazza has partnered with off-grid, sustainable accommodation provider, CABN to provide coffee lovers the chance to experience two nights in South Australia’s McLaren Vale region at the eco-friendly, Lavazza-themed CABN X Giles.

Guests will be able to enjoy Lavazza’s premium range of espresso blends encased in sustainable aluminium capsules with zero CO2 impact.

CABN X Giles is complete with a wood-fired sauna, outdoor bathtub, king-sized bed and an indoor wood heater. The CABN typically retails for up to $800 per night, but coffee lovers will be able to win their complimentary stay via the official CABN website here

Those who are interested will be able to claim their two-night stay from Thursday 25 August to Wednesday 31 August 2022. For those who miss out, a third round offer of bookings will open on Tuesday, 23 August.

Lavazza recently commissioned research to understand Australians’ sentiment towards carbon-neutral products and sustainable living practices. The results found that nearly 90% of Australians have heard of ‘carbon neutrality’, however one-in-two (49%) are not sure what carbon neutral means.

Interestingly, almost two-thirds (65%) of Australians say they take steps to actively reduce their carbon footprint. The top three actions were separating rubbish from recycling (80%), taking public transport/driving less (45%) and flying less (30%).

Lavazza’s carbon-neutral aluminium capsules mark another milestone for Lavazza Group’s ‘Roadmap to Zero’, a sustainability mission which aims to achieve total carbon neutrality by offsetting all direct and indirect emissions generated along the entire value chain.

Commenting on the impact of the partnership and capsule launch, Lavazza marketing director for Asia Pacific, Mimmo Orlando said, “Since the inception of our ‘Roadmap to Zero’, we’ve made great progress towards our global sustainability goals. The launch of our carbon-neutral capsules in Australia is another exciting step forward.

“By partnering with CABN, we hope to give our Australian customers a sustainable stay away, while showcasing the benefits of prioritising sustainability in their everyday lives. This includes the type of sustainable compatible coffee capsules they can enjoy both in the cabin and at home.

“We are excited that our customers who take up the offer will be among the first in the nation to try our carbon-neutral capsules and indulge in the smooth, delectable flavours and excellence for which we are famously globally renowned.”

CABN founder and CEO, Michael Lamprell added, “Not only are CABN and Lavazza aligned when it comes to our sustainability efforts, but we are impressed by Lavazza’s commitment to striving for a better world. At CABN, we are early adopters of the regenerative tourism principles and can’t wait for Aussies to claim their stay and really embrace it wholeheartedly during their time with us.”
