Lenovo is recalling lithium-ion batteries sold for certain ThinkPad branded notebooks because they could overheat, posing a risk of fire or burns to consumers.

The recalled batteries were sold nationally from February 2010 to June 2012. They were either included in Lenovo products, distributed as stand-alone replacement packs or distributed as a stand-alone option.

Just over 12 months ago Lenovo recalled the lithium-ion batteries sold with eight ThinkPad models — T510, W510, X100E, X201, X201s, Edge 11, Edge 13 and Mini 10. Yesterday more models were added to the recall list (published in full below).

If they are affected, consumers should immediately turn off their computer, remove the battery and only power the computer through the AC adaptor and power cord. Consumers are asked to visit www.lenovo.com/batteryprogram2014 to determine if they are affected and to arrange for a free replacement battery. For more information consumers can contact Lenovo (Australia & New Zealand) Pty Ltd (toll free) on 1800 041 267 or visit www.lenovo.com/batteryprogram2014.
