LG Electronics has launched its first capsule-based coffee machine, the futuristic Duobo by LG Labs, the company’s new marketing platform established to deliver experimental and innovative product and service experiences.
According to LG, Duobo revolutionises the coffee brewing process with features and technologies that deliver convenience and personalised flavour.
In what is said to be a world-first, the dual-capsule extraction system allows for two-shot layered blending, making it possible for users to create their own blends, while app integration precisely adjusts the extraction temperature and pressure. The machine is compatible with coffee capsules from various brands. The full HD IPS display provides entertainment and information with access to content such as exclusive animations and coffee-related information.
LG looked to space exploration for the design elements that resemble a space probe, and in a nod to history, was launched on July 20, commemorating the Apollo 11 first moon landing in 1969.
LG Labs teamed up with six of the world’s top baristas, including previous winners of the US Barista Championships, for a launch event held at The Lost Draft café in New York’s Soho district.
Duobo is available for crowdfunding on Kickstarter, giving coffee aficionados and early adopters a 50% discount with a limited early bird deal exclusively on Kickstarter.
Availability, pricing and specifications for Australia is yet to be determined.
