No longer just distributing ‘Mac Gear’, the MacGear Group is the new distributor for the Sphero and Twelve South brands of accessories for notebooks, tablets and smartphones.
Sales director for MacGear Group, Jeremy Sedley, said his company is always on the lookout for the next big thing for retail customers and he feels there will be continued growth in the Apple and Android accessories segments with this expanding to Microsoft accessories.
He said Sphero ushers in a new category for mobile devices – app-enabled robots. Sphero products include Sphero 2.0, the app-enabled ball and Ollie/Darkside Ollie, the app-enabled racing robots.
Since signing Sphero, MacGear has secured distributorship with some key Australian retailers including JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Toys R Us, Harvey Norman, Kidstuff, Tech2Go, Myer andNoel Leeming and JB Hi-Fi in New Zealand.
Sphero ticks all the boxes with products that entertain
JB Hi-Fi’s product manager, Rod Korff, said: “The Sphero products are an exciting addition to our robotics and drone range. Without doubt these categories are gaining a lot of attention. Sphero ticks all the boxes with products that educate, entertain and fascinate the smartphone and tablet generation.”
Fusing some of the latest technology in robotics and interactive software platforms on mobile devices, Sphero 2.0 and Ollie are toys which focus on having fun in exciting new ways. The Sphero 2.0 is the second generation of the app-controlled ball which can be driven from your phone and made to perform impressive tricks and stunts.
Ollie and Darkside Ollie are the high-octane cousins to the Sphero 2.0 with a bit more speed, maneuverability and rubber grip tracks which allow for all manner of crazy racing fun.
