Appliances Online, Big W and Harvey Norman are among the retail heavyweights coming together to help raise funds and redirect unsold consumer products from landfill to Australians in need.
In support of Good360’s inaugural EveryOne Day on Thursday 12 October, all money raised will be used to deliver millions of items including homewares, furniture and appliances, that may have otherwise ended up wasted or in landfill.
Good360 Australia founder and managing director, Alison Covington said, “Every dollar donated to Good360 on EveryOne Day will not only help us redirect $20 worth of products to people in financial distress, but it helps to provide hope, dignity and a brighter future to Australians doing it tough. By aiming to raise $5 million, we hope to deliver up to $100 million worth of goods to Australians in need over the next 12 months.”
The launch of EveryOne Day coincides with a 20% volume surge in new unsold consumer goods donated by retailers to Good360 over the past year, as well as a spike in demand from Australians in need with the charity now providing support and donated goods to 3,000 Australians every day.
“Every week Good360 receives the equivalent of five skip bins worth of products such as clothes, homewares, appliances, toiletries and toys from retailers around the country that would otherwise have been wasted. The cost-of-living crisis has also resulted in an unprecedented surge in demand for our support and services,” Covington added.
Big W is supporting EveryOne Day by matching customer donations through a round-up campaign in-store. “At Big W, we believe in making a real difference for Australian families. Our long-term partnership with Good360 is aligned with our commitment to supporting communities around the country by donating funds and excess goods to achieve zero waste. We’re proud to be working alongside industry partners to launch Good360’s first ever EveryOne Day fundraising event,” Big W head of communications, Vanessa Churnin said.
Harvey Norman CEO, Katie Page said, “Good360 are guided by those on the ground living in the crisis zone to ensure they deliver the right goods when and where they are needed most. Harvey Norman goods have been donated to Good360 to assist in the rebuilding of lives after the bushfires in early 2020 and more recently in the aftermath of the Northern NSW floods. Harvey Norman is proud to continue to support Good360 through EveryOne Day – a chance for everyone to support the work of Good360.”
