Miele appliances have won six international 2015 Red Dot Design Awards for design excellence with the company’s K30,000 refrigeration, KM 6366-1 Powerflex induction cooktop, Scout RX 1 Robot Vacuum Cleaner and the CM 6310 countertop coffee machine.
As well as these five domestic appliances, a commercial washer-disinfector from Miele Professional won a red dot. The official award ceremony where all 31 Red Dot Awards will be presented, will take place in Essen, Germany on June 29, 2015.
The Red Dot Awards started 60 years ago and this year, entries were received from 56 countries with over 5000 product entries to the nominated 31 categories.
According to Miele, the jury noted that Miele’s KM 6366-1 induction cooktop featured design clarity and simplicity of operation.
Refrigeration with glare-free lighting
When judging the Miele K 30,000 refrigeration units, the refrigerator’s FlexiLight with its glare-free lighting was said to be one feature which swayed the jury in Miele’s favour. The lighting source is integrated into the glass shelves and is activated via contacts at each rack level. As a result, the refrigerator is uniformly brightly lit and to simplify operation, several models offer touch controls.
Intelligent navigation and good cleaning results were considered the best features of the Scout RX 1 Robot Vacuum Cleaner. The judges found the Triple Cleaning System, with two side brushes, a beater bar and a fan, produces a better cleaning performance. Thanks to its reduced height, the Scout was able to navigate furniture with more ease.
As well, the Red Dot Award for the Scout RX 1 Robot Vacuum Cleaner was reinforced with a Best in Category Award for Domestic Appliances at the 2015 Good Design Awards held in Sydney recently.
The Miele CM 6310 was noted to have excellent hygiene and cleanability, as well as the fact the machine allows the preparation of two coffee specialties simultaneously at the touch of a single button. Plus, the brew unit can be removed for simple cleaning and many components are dishwasher-proof with all milk lines automatically flushed when the machine is switched off.
