Motorola is strengthening its premium edge smartphone line-up with the addition of the motorola edge 50 and edge 50 neo, boasting a camera system powered by Sony’s LYTIA sensor, moto ai experiences and a harmonious design with proven durability.

Motorola head of greater Asia Pacific, Kurt Bonnici said, “The motorola edge 50 and motorola edge 50 neo complete our carefully curated edge family for 2024. With the addition of these two new devices, we are proud that our edge series has delivered a range of phones that re-define premium. With this franchise we are offering the latest and greatest through different prices and value propositions, catering to users looking to edge closer to the premium phone market.

“Following the praise of our edge 50 fusion, it was clear our customers valued ground-breaking features and cutting-edge design. The motorola edge 50 and motorola edge 50 neo embody the innovation our edge family is known for, with a durable build, camera system powered by moto ai, and more.”

The motorola edge 50 devices are protected to IP68 standards, engineered to meet military standards for durability, with a MIL-STD-810H rating, and use in extreme environmental conditions, with the added feature of Corning GorillaGlass.

The motorola edge 50 is available in three colours – Koala Grey, Jungle Green, and the Pantone Colour of the Year, Peach Fuzz, while the edge 50 neo will be available in colours curated by Pantone including Poinciana, Lattè and Grisaille.

Both devices feature camera systems powered by moto ai, allowing users to create and capture content in any setting or lighting. The main camera combines the superior light sensitivity of Sony’s LYTIA sensor with moto ai image processing to aid in capturing scenes at night. Plus, thanks to Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and advanced all-pixel focus technology, users can capture a crisp image every time.

Users can also take advantage of the 10MP telephoto lens, which offers 3x optical zoom and 30x superzoom. The 13MP ultrawide lens is ideal for landscapes or group photos, and when up close, the integrated macro vision reveals intricate details.

moto ai image processing works with all lenses to analyse multiple frames of a photo, blending exposures to create a true-to-life image. It works directly on the uncompressed image to preserve hidden details, richer colours, and subtle textures. These devices also include moto ai enhancements for video recording.

When streaming movies or playing games, the new motorola edge devices boast over one billion colours, infinite contrast, HDR10+ brightness support and a Super HD (1220P) display, offering 13% more resolution than the previous generation of motorola edge family.

The motorola edge 50 incorporates a borderless endless edge 6.7-inch pOLED display while the edge 50 neo features a 6.4-inch pOLED display. Thanks to 68W TurboPower, users can achieve power for the day in minutes of charging. The devices also support 15W wireless charging.

The motorola edge 50 is equipped with Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Mobile Platform Accelerated Edition to deliver top-of-the-line AI features, high speed connectivity with 5G capabilities and Wi-Fi 6E support. Backed by the Qualcomm Adreno GPU, a 20% improvement from the previous generation, without compromising battery life. It also contains up to 256GB of storage and up to 12GB of RAM for seamless multitasking and efficient performance.

The motorola edge 50 neo is empowered by the MediaTek 7300, thanks to its power efficiency, to support all day battery life, without sacrificing on moto ai features.

moto ai introduces Style Sync and Magic Canvas experiences. With Style Sync, users can generate wallpapers and device themes that match their unique style or transform their imagination into visuals with a text prompt thanks to Magic Canvas. Users can also use intuitive gestures like twist and tap to control different features or launch apps.
