Motorola general manager of sales – Asia Pacific for Mature Markets, Danny Adamopoulos has made the decision to leave Motorola for personal reasons after 22 years with the company.
Adamopoulos first joined Motorola in 1999 as retail channel sales manager and has grown in the business over the last two decades in both domestic and international roles.
He was involved in many industry firsts for Australia and for Motorola. With the introduction of 3G, he launched the Motorola content delivery platform for Motorola devices that was the first to support carrier billing outside the carrier’s own content portals. He also brought to market the initial range of 850 UMTS devices custom made for Telstra.
Internationally, he spearheaded the re-entry of Motorola’s business back into India with Flipkart and Japan after a long hiatus.
In a statement shared with Appliance Retailer, Motorola said: “Throughout its 92 years of history, Motorola has always been at the cutting edge of communications technology and Danny has played a pivotal part in elevating this company to be a leading player in the smartphone category across Asia Pacific and Australia and New Zealand.
“Danny has been an industry veteran and the face of the Motorola brand. He will be missed by colleagues and industry friends.”
A replacement is yet to be announced.
