Motorola has announced three new flagship devices – the foldable Motorola razr 40 ultra and razr 40, as well as the edge 40.

Continuing Motorola’s partnership with Pantone, the razr 40 ultra and edge 40 will be available in Pantone Colour of the Year 2023, Viva Magenta.

Motorola head of greater Asia Pacific, Kurt Bonnici said, “No one knows more about foldable devices than Motorola. We invented the first flip phone and launched the first razr in the early 2000s. Razr quickly became an icon – a fashion statement and something of a status symbol.

“As we continue to innovate, the razr continues to bridge the gap between technology and fashion. We understand that consumers are changing the way they use their devices and innovative design and form factor, are paramount to enhancing their experience.

“In addition to our ongoing partnership with Pantone, we are proud to announce that Motorola will be donating from the sales of our new motorola razr 40 ultra and motorola edge 40 in Viva Magenta to Breast Cancer Network Australia, to help ensure that Australians affected by breast cancer receive the best care, treatment and support.”

The motorola razr 40 ultra, RRP $1,499, features the largest external display of any flip phone with a 3.6-inch fully useable display when flipped close. The phone folds completely in half with the top and bottom edges aligning when closed for a gapless look. When open, users can take advantage of the full-sized pOLED display with refresh rates up to 144Hz.

A redesigned teardrop hinge comprised of the industry’s first dual-axis tracking minimises the size of the system. Combined with ultra-thin glass, the foldable is nearly creaseless when the display unfolds and with Flex View technology, users can stand the device at multiple angles or use it as a tripod.

Built with content creators in mind, a 12MP main camera sensor uses Instant Dual Pixel PDAF for faster and more accurate performance in any lighting. Capture photos with soft-focus backgrounds thanks to a wide f/1.5 aperture, while OIS eliminates unwanted shakes. Users can flip open the razr 40 ultra to access the 32MP camera for selfies and video calls. There is also a 13MP ultrawide + macro vision lens for wide angle shots that fit three times more into the frame than a standard lens.

A new photo booth feature designed for group photos showcases different poses in four timed pictures, triggered by an open palm gesture. New Spatial Sound by Moto is combined with Dolby Atmos and stereo speakers, promising greater depth, clarity and detail.

The motorola razr 40 ultra also supports the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform and 30W TurboPower charging and wireless charging. Available in Infinite Black, Glacier Blue and Viva Magenta, customers can pre-order the device from 13 June 2023 with an on-sale date of 10 July 2023.

A 13MP ultrawide camera with macro vision completes the rear camera system and a 32MP selfie camera guarantees enhanced shots in all lighting conditions. There is also an array of new video and camera enhancements including Horizon Lock Stabilisation, Video Portrait and Vlog Mode.
