Electrolux is taking on floorcare rival Dyson with the launch of its new canister vacuum cleaner the UltraFlex, saying it picks up more dust and is quieter to run than the Dyson DC54 MultiFloor.
Electrolux has referred to research conducted by independent German testing institute SLG that the new UltraFlex range has 33 per cent more dust pick up than the Dyson DC54 MultiFloor on Wilton carpet and is quieter to operate.
The UltraFlex range will be available in September with three new models that “capture 99.99 per cent of dust particles and allergens.” In ascending price order, the range includes: UltraFlex Allergy (ZUF4201OR) RRP $479, UltraFlex Animal Allergy (ZUF4203PET) RRP $599 and UltraFlex Animal Allergy Pro (ZUF4205AF) RRP $659.
In response to these claims, Dyson pointed to the fact that its Cinetic vacuums — including the DC54 MultiFloor (RRP $599) — don’t require any maintenance to sustain suction performance over the long run.
“Dyson has invented the only vacuum that never loses suction. All other vacuums lose suction without maintenance. Pick up performance drops and filters need to be washed or replaced,” the company said.
“Other manufacturers may claim ‘no loss of suction’, but test their machines with less than one bin-full of dust – only 50 grams. After just one bin load performance can start dropping. Dyson engineers spent time in real homes to calculate how much dust would be picked up over 10 years. By using the equivalent volume of dust they proved that the Dyson Cinetic vacuum maintains constant suction, with ten years’ worth of test dust.”
Dust pickup is indeed a key concern for shoppers looking to invest in a new vacuum, with 41 per cent of Australians naming it their biggest concern, according to Electrolux’s 2013 Global Vacuuming Survey.
“With a sealed system and range of HEPA filters, Electrolux UltraFlex prevents dust leakage and captures 99.99 per cent of dust particles and allergens, resulting in better air quality at home when vacuuming. Electrolux UltraFlex is designed to not only remove the visible dust, but also to retain it effectively so that it does not circulate in the air you breathe,” Electrolux said.
Electrolux UltraFlex has been designed to be a light and compact vacuum, featuring a clip on hose, 12-metre extra-long cleaning reach and, the AeroPro Extreme nozzle with V shaped is designed to optimise air flow.
The top-of-the-range Electrolux UltraFlex Animal Allergy Pro model also features the slim design AeroPro FlexPro nozzle that has 180 degree flexibility, to clean under furniture as low as 5 centimetres off the floor and is designed to easily glide sideways, getting into hard to reach areas.
