An Olsent 4 outlet Powerboard sold nationwide through Masters Home Improvement has been recalled. It is the third recall notice for Olsent branded electrical products sold through Masters in recent weeks.
According to the ACCC the Olsent 4 outlet Powerboard is being recalled because “the electrical contacts of the sockets are poorly aligned and the plastic enclosure does not meet the flammability requirements of the applicable standard.” These faults could cause a risk of overheating or fire.
The product was sold between 1 September 2011 and 12 September 2014. Only the 4 outlet Powerboard units marked with the numbers SAA111929EA LA025B, are being recalled.
Consumers are advised to stop stop using the LA025B powerboard and return it to their nearest Masters Home Improvement store to receive a full refund.
This recalls comes after last month Olsent electrical cabling was recalled, as part of a broader recall of Infinity brand electrical cables, which affected multiple retailers and wholesalers.
The Olsent Weatherproof Outdoor Power Kit has also been recalled, which includes a weatherproof box, electrical timer and a 4 outlet power board. The 4 outlet power board posed a risk of overheating and fire due to a similar fault.
“The electrical contacts of the sockets are poorly aligned and the plastic enclosure does not meet the flammability requirements of the applicable standard,” the ACCC notice said.
The other parts of the Weatherproof Outdoor Power Kit (the weatherproof box and timer) are not affected by the recall and can continue to be used.
The product was sold nationally between 1 November 2013 and 26 August 2014.
The ACCC notice states: “Consumers should stop using the LA025B powerboard and return it to their nearest Masters Home Improvement store to receive a replacement 4 way power board. Customers wishing to return the complete product (weatherproof enclosure, timer and power board) will be offered a full refund.”
