Computer component distributor Altech Computers has announced that it has picked up the distribution of Lexar memory cards and USB drives, as well as distribution of SSDs (solid state drives) and DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) products from the Crucial brand.
The arrangement came into effect this month and will see Altech distributing the products to its channel of independent resellers and “premium retailers” across Australia and New Zealand, according to a statement from the company.
Altech currently distributes computer components from brands including Asus, Dell and Intel, as well as security software from McAfee and Kaspersky, and peripherals and accessories from the likes of Samsung, Sony and Logitech.

Antony Sheen, managing director of Altech Computers, said there was an “accelerating demand for memory and storage products in business and consumer environments” that the company was hoping to meet with the new arrangement.
“Our experience in this market built up over the past 16 years, combined with our storage specialisation, particularly in DRAM and SSDs, means we are uniquely placed to support the growth in demand for Crucial and Lexar products across Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
Richard Clarke, national sales manager for Crucial and Lexar products in ANZ, agreed the deal was a good way to meet the demands of consumers and businesses.
“With growing demand for innovative storage and memory solutions, we see Altech as an important addition to our distribution platform in the region as we look to replicate the success Crucial has enjoyed in the European and United States markets, where we are leaders in this space,” he said.
