Panasonic is launching the new Toughbook S1 tablet designed for mobile workforces, offering enterprise grade device deployment, management and enterprise grade security, as well as Google Play Protect.
Panasonic Australia senior product marketing manager for mobile solutions said the Toughbook S1 adds to the family of Android Enterprise Recommended rugged mobility devices.
“Security continues to be a priority – secure booting detects OS tampering and ensures application safety, while Google Play Protect detects and eliminates rogue apps. AER certification means that industries such as warehousing and logistics, and roles such as emergency services can be confident that the Toughbook S1 is a viable long-term investment, well suited to a wide range of mobile business applications.”
Ergonomically designed and lightweight at just 426 grams, the Toughbook S1 tablet fits comfortably in one hand for use over long periods of time. The display can be used in all weather conditions with market-leading brightness of up to 500 cd/m² and enhanced anti-reflection technology, in addition to rain mode and glove-enabled touch screen.
Despite its lightweight design, the tablet has a dust and water rating of IP65/67, MIL-STD-810H certification and tested to withstand drops of up to 1.5 metres onto concrete. It shares elements of the Toughbook L1 and A3 Android tablet ecosystem, such as batteries, cradles, docks, and stylus pens.
The Toughbook S1 features a 13MP rear camera with flashlight and 5MP camera for capturing images or video calls. It can be equipped using its configurable gadget port offering combinations of barcode reader or additional USB port.
With the ability to operate for up to 14 hours on a single charge, the tablet is also equipped with a simple click and switch design for warm swapping batteries without the need to power down the device. It uses the Android 10 operating system, has a Qualcomm SDM660 Octa-Core CPU, 4GB of RAM memory and 64GB of storage.
The Toughbook S1 will be released in Q4 2021 via authorised distributors and resellers with pricing yet to be announced. It is Android Enterprise-ready and comes with a three-year warranty.
