Home networking brand Belkin has announced the global acquisition of Cisco’s home networking business unit, including the Linksys brand of networking products, which will see it bring on staff both internationally and in Australia.

In important news for retailers, Belkin has confirmed that it will maintain the Linksys brand and will take on support and after-sales service for its products, including honouring valid warranties for current and future LinkSys products.

According to Belkin’s Australian head of marketing, Brendan Sparks, Belkin will acquire four staff in Australia following the acquisition, and the company’s head office will continue to be based out of Tuggerah, NSW, with no plans to change offices.

“The plan is for all support to be provided through Belkin,” Sparks told Current.com.au, advising retailers on the main point of contact for future operations. “However, in the interim, Belkin will provide customer support for Belkin products and Linksys products will be serviced through the existing Linksys customer care methods and organisations.

“We intend to maintain and promote the Belkin and Linksys brands in the market, emphasizing the distinctive consumer offerings of the combined businesses,” he said.

The brand has strong plans to “solidify its number two market share position in the ANZ retail home and small business networking market,” and the acquisition is being heralded as a step forward in that process.
