Tech sales up.
David Barke Appliances has re-entered into a number of categories in the tech space following the demise of Dick Smith.
“We now stock GPS cameras, which we haven’t done in around four years. We also beefed up our digital camera range to cater for travellers who want better picture quality than what their smartphones can deliver. We are also now selling TV accessories, including leads and remotes,” owner, David Barke (pictured below) told Appliance Retailer.
“Over the past few weeks, we have also had a number of requests for Fitbits and Kindles, so they may be next on the cards,” he added.
Betta In Queensland, Home Living Kingaroy has also seen increased interest in the technology category since the local Dick Smith closed its doors.
Furthermore, since the demise of Dick Smith, and in particular the closure of its Kingaroy store that was in close proximity to Betta Home Living, Robins said that tech sales have seen a significant surge.
“Sales of TVs and laptops are definitely up compared to previous years and we expect this to continue due to limited competition in the area,” he said.
