Samsung and Sony are the joint winners of Canstar Blue’s 2021 Customer Satisfaction Award for televisions.

Canstar Blue asked over 1,200 consumers who purchased a television in the last two years to rate them on overall satisfaction, as well as picture quality, value for money, sound quality, ease of use, design and smart compatibility. Samsung came out on top for smart compatibility, while Sony fared better for sound quality.

Samsung vice president of consumer electronics, Jeremy Senior said, “We are honoured to be awarded by Canstar Blue for the 2021 Customers Satisfaction Award for TV in Australia.

“Australians are looking for bigger screens, more immersive sound and an easy-to-use Smart TV platform. To meet and even exceed customer expectations in these areas ultimately drives our product innovation year-on-year.”

Sony Australia head of TV business unit, Aki Hosoda said, “Sony is thrilled to have been recognised with this award. The satisfaction of our customers is very important, and we will continue to strive for excellence.”

The most popular reason Australians purchased a new television in the last two years was wanting to upgrade to a smart TV (28%), followed by replacing a broken predecessor (27%), and then wanting to upgrade to a newer model (20%), according to Canstar Blue research.

The research also found that Australians spend on average $984 on a television and watch approximately seventeen hours of television per week.
