Samsung Electronics Australia has confirmed a number of leadership appointments across the business, effective from October 2023.

Samsung head of Direct to Consumer (DTC), Eric Chou has been appointed to lead the Mobile Experience (MX) division as director, head of MX, following the departure of vice president MX, Garry McGregor, after an almost ten-year tenure at Samsung.

Chou will oversee the MX division’s local strategy and portfolio, spanning smartphones, wearables, accessories and tablets. With over 20 years’ technology experience and having joined Samsung in 2012, he brings extensive knowledge to the role, after leading sales, product and marketing initiatives, contributing to the overall growth of the Samsung Australian arm.

Commenting on McGregor’s departure, Samsung Australia president of MX, Ken Kim said, “We extend our sincere thanks to Garry for his dedication to Samsung, and always supporting his team through his humour, empathy and his charismatic approach to leadership. He added: “I’m pleased to welcome Eric into the role as director, head of MX. It is this unique skillset that has made him the ideal choice to lead and execute on the strategic direction of the MX division.”

Samsung director of customer service, Simon Howe has been appointed to director of audio visual, overseeing the local sales and product management activities. Howe brings a deep understanding of consumer electronics to the role, alongside his diligence, and overall passion for the industry and fostering key partnerships.

With over a decade at Samsung, he joined in 2013 as head of product, TV and audio and has consistently delivered in various roles including head of channel sales for home appliances, head of consumer electronics retail and online management.

In addition, Sasha Botha (pictured left) has been appointed head of home appliance, having previously held channel management roles across the consumer electronics division, and voice of customer, customer retention and regulatory affairs manager, Muneeb Ekhlaque (pictured right), will transition to head of customer service.
