Smeg Australia managing director, Jim Kalotheos has spoken to Appliance Retailer about how COVID-19 has impacted stock levels and what he expects for the second half of the year, in a recent video interview.
“Both across SDA and MDA, our stock at the moment is quite constant,” he said.
“It’s very well documented that in Europe and broader Asia, there has been serious interruptions to factories, and we are not immune to that.
“But thankfully, we are usually pretty good at holding a bit of stock anyway here in Australia. Being on the other side of the world, it’s always been something that we have always considered to be an important part in the way we manage the business.
“Given the fact that we have agents outside of New South Wales and Victoria, which are our own offices, we are supporting them by having stock interstate – it’s something that has always been very important to us and always will be.
“I am quite happy to say that there might be some issues with particular SKUs but generally speaking, stock is pretty good and I think it’s a good feeling in the current environment and good for our retail partners.”
