Sony has announced the finalists for the eighth annual Sony Alpha Awards, which recognise amateur and professional photographers from Australia and New Zealand and the imagery they have captured on Sony Alpha cameras and lenses. The Alpha Awards are designed to drive creativity with the opportunity to showcase their photography work, with over 3,700 images submitted this year.
The shortlisted entries across the 10 categories, were selected by the Sony Australia Digital Imaging team and the grand prize winner will be selected from among the total pool of finalists by World Photography Organisation CEO, Scott Gray.
There will be $50,000 worth of Sony camera gear to win, including $4,000 worth of Sony digital imaging gear per category, and each of the category finalists will be in with the chance to win the overall grand prize of Sony digital imaging gear, valued at $10,000.
Sony Digital Imaging ANZ head Jun Yoon said,“We are thrilled to announce the finalists of the eighth year of our Sony Alpha Awards competition. Every year we are astonished by the high calibre of work and honoured to showcase the amazing work of our Sony photography community.”
The winners will be announced on September 8 at an awards night in Sydney.
