The Good Guys and Winning Appliances – parent company of Appliances Online – have both confirmed that their warehouses in Sydney are open following fumigation.
“Here at The Good Guys we are already taking inbound stock deliveries at our Sydney Home Delivery Centre, and will be delivering to customers tomorrow,” a statement sent to Appliance Retailer by a media representative from The Good Guys said.
Three stores remain closed in Canberra where the dangerous Khapra Beetle was discovered by a member of the public that has the potential to cause up to $15.5 billion of damage to the Australian economy according to the Australian Federal Government’s Department of Agriculture.
“In Canberra, we are working through our clearance from the Department of Agriculture. This will be done by individual store. Our teams are ready to trade as soon as clearance is provided. There is no further information to share at this time,” The Good Guys media representative said.
After initially displaying shock at the closure of his warehouse in Sydney’s north-west, Winning CEO John Winning has confirmed that their facility is now operating as normal.
“Following an extensive process of fumigation conducted under the supervision of Commonwealth Department of Agriculture officials, I can confirm that our Rosehill Distribution Centre returned to normal operation yesterday. It’s great to be back doing what we do best,” John Winning told Appliance Retailer.
