The Good Guys have confirmed three stores have closed due to the Khapra Beetle biosecurity issue following the importation of Westinghouse refrigerators from Rayong in Thailand.
In a statement sent to Appliance Retailer by The Good Guys Media Enquiries Team, three stores in Canberra have been closed as a result and the beetle has also been tracked to the company’s Home Delivery Centre in Sydney.
“The Good Guys are working with the Department of Agriculture regarding traces of a Khapra Beetle that were detected in a supplier shipment of Fridges on Tuesday at The Good Guys Fyshwick (ACT),” the statement reads.
“Traces of the beetle have now also been found in the same supplier shipment delivered to our Belconnen and Tuggeranong stores (ACT) and Home Delivery Centre in Sydney. The Khapra Beetle is not harmful to humans, but we have temporarily closed our Fyshwick, Belconnen and Tuggeranong stores,” the statement said.
“We are redirecting all customers to our website or Phones Sales 1300 942 765 while the beetle’s presence is fully assessed. We are working with our customers individually to offer alternate home delivery dates from unaffected stores. We have no further information we can share at this time.”
