Electrolux Home Products has raked in numerous GfK Number One Awards to reaffirm its position as the leading whitegoods manufacturer in Australia for 2008.
According to the international research company GfK Group, Electrolux Home Products topped the sales figures for cookers, freezers, refrigerators, cooking hobs and rangehoods under the Westinghouse brand. Not to mention the other EHP brand, Simpson, which secured the award for the clothes dryer category.
For the past four years, GfK has presented its No 1 Awards to the top-selling brand, according to GfK retail audit data, in each category and in each country within the Asia-Pacific region. The awards are based on unit sales for the period from January to December. To receive an award, the brand must be in general distribution in the country to which the award relates and also be clear No.1 in unit sales.
John Brown, managing director of Electrolux Home Products, was very enthusiastic about the news and acknowledged the performance of the entire organisation, from the manufacturing plants to the sales teams.
He also expressed how in these tough economic times consumers are tending to stay with strong brands they know will be reliable and how this has benefited the company.
“In tougher economic times it has been our experience that consumers tend to gravitate to well-known, trusted brands when they replace appliances, so these awards are even more meaningful in the current economic environment,” he said.
“In particular the support of our customers is very encouraging and gratifying.”
