With app feature.

The latest app feature from Ultimate Ears (UE) – Party Up – was launched on Wednesday in front of a large group of media, bloggers and retailers. The feature allows users to wirelessly connect more than 50 UE speakers, a mix of UE Boom, UE Boom 2 and UE Megaboom speakers together.

With a free, over-the-air update to the existing UE Boom and UE Megaboom apps, users can see, select, drag and drop available speakers to join the party in seconds.

UE brand manager, John Paterson told Appliance Retailer that the Bluetooth speaker market continues to be driven along by the uptake in music streaming.

“As more people start consuming music on-the-go via these types of services, and become aware of the quality sound and battery life that is now available, they continue to drive strong growth in the mobile speaker market,” he said.

“For the last three years, the category had been experiencing very strong hyper-growth, more than doubling year-on-year. Despite the rate of growth slowing this year, we believe continued innovation will enable good growth.

“The possibilities of the Party Up app are limitless; a group of friends going camping, going to a music festival, having a party or BBQ. We are excited to see how people use the Party Up feature once they embrace it and make it their own.”

UE will be executing an in-store merchandising and digital campaign that will promote the company’s promotion: Purchase a UE Boom 2 or Megaboom, go online and redeem two pizzas and two albums (30 downloads) worth of songs.

“We hope the Party Up feature appeals to the core UE consumer – the young (and young-at-heart) that like to have music everywhere and wherever they go. Those people that like to regularly hang out with friends, and like to have music setting the scene,” he added.

Party Up is available through the iOS and Android app stores now.
