LG offers 10-year warranty on Direct Drive system

SYDNEY: LG Electronics has announced it will be offering a 10-year warranty for the first time ever in the Australian market on the company’s Direct Drive motor used in its front load washing machines.

The guarantee, which is effective from 1 April, 2006, applies to front loading washing machines with the Direct Drive system including the LG range of combined washer dryers.

There are six models which feature the warranty – the WD-1227RD washer dryer with 10kg wash and 6kg dry capacity (RRP $3,124), the WD-1290RD washer dryer with 9kg wash and 5kg dry capacity (RRP $2,499), the WD-1485RD washer dryer with 8kg wash and 4kg (RRP $2,124), the WD-1435R washer dryer with 7kg wash and 4kg and capacity (RRP $1,749) and the company’s two front load washers – the 10kg WD-1019BD (RRP $2,624) and the 7kg WD-1236TD (RRP $1,561).

According to LG Electronics general manager – marketing, Paul Jenkins, the Direct Drive Motor System features a brushless DC motor attached directly to the centre of the drum resulting in increased durability, stability, energy
efficiency as well as reduced noise and vibration.

According to Jenkins, the combined washer dryer range has responded to the growing number of Australians working longer hours and living in high density, high rise housing.

“The range is predominately concerned with freeing up valuable time for consumers to enjoy other activities whilst saving space by integrating washing and drying,” he said.

Products applicable for the 10-year Direct Drive warranty will have a full two-year warranty on parts and labour, plus an additional eight years on the motor part only, excluding labour.

Customers must keep their proof of purchase (receipt) in order to be eligible for the 10 year Direct Drive motor warranty.
