Video: Smeg Australia MD shares sneak preview of 2021
Smeg Australia managing director, Jim Kalotheos has provided a sneak preview of the company’s product pipeline for 2021 across small appliances and major appliances.
From a small appliance perspective, retailers can expect new colours and finishes in the breakfast collection, as well as new additions to the food preparation offering but the main focus will be on coffee marked by an entry into the fully automatic machine category.
From a major appliance perspective, there will be new dishwashers, upgraded freestanding cookers, the release of Davina Cucina – an extension of our collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, additional refrigeration products and a total revolution in oven cavity construction with new racking systems, lighting and technology across 45cm and 60cm compact ovens.
Kalotheos also discusses Smeg’s acquisition of Italian coffee manufacturer, La Pavoni in early 2020 and what it means for the business. La Pavoni is expected to make its mark in Australia in Q1 2021 with several product offerings including traditional lever style machines and semi-professional models supported by coffee grinders and a professional range for the hospitality industry.
He then goes on to provide his observations on the way consumer buying behaviour has shifted, as a result of Covid-19. People are researching more and when they visit a store, they are committed to a purchase and spend less time browsing.
On a final note, Kalotheos shares his message to retail partners as we approach the end of 2020 and the beginning of the New Year.
