Weber is introducing the multi-function Weber Lumin Electric Barbecue that can grill and sear, as well as steam, smoke-infuse, defrost and warm all food types.
From steaming gyoza to smoking salmon, defrosting prawns, searing rib-eye steaks, braising sausages and warming up leftovers, the Weber Lumin is powered by electricity, making it ideal for environments where fuel BBQs are banned or restricted, such as urban high-rises.
The space-efficient design means the Weber Lumin is well suited to smaller outdoor areas, including unit balconies and courtyards. It’s easy to move around and can be used on an outdoor tabletop or with a stand.
Electric is a growing category in BBQs, according to Weber Asia Pacific managing director, Michael McDonald.
“After years of rigorous product development and testing to create an innovative, quality electric BBQ that doesn’t compromise on cooking results and flavours, we’re excited to now offer Weber Lumin in Australia and New Zealand. It allows exceptional food to be created at just the flick of a switch,” he said.
Having already launched in the US and UK, Weber Lumin has recently been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award for Product Design.
Weber product experts engineered this first-of-its-kind barbecue to reach high heat temperatures of more than 315°C. Like most traditional BBQs, high heat-searing temperatures can be reached within 15 minutes.
Vegetables and proteins can be infused with rich, smokey tastes through a unique smoke mode, while delicate foods including vegetables can be steamed, and cooked food can be kept warm via different settings and specially designed accessories. It’s also possible to thaw frozen foods directly on the grill while it pre-heats to save time.
The Weber Lumin features a porcelain-enamel steel lid and cook box for superior durability and long-term corrosion resistance. A front-access grease tray and dishwasher-friendly porcelain-enamel cast iron cooking grates make clean-up simple.
