Members and vendors focus on annual strategies.
The recent Leading Edge Computers (LEC) four day Strategic Partners Conference (SPC) staked out at Darwin from October 29 – Nov 2 with 46 national stores represented (the largest attendance to date). The company individually selected and paired members with other like-minded colleagues who then spent quality one-to-one sessions with 17 key vendor partners.

The company said that while suppliers had the option to offer new products, the purpose was to “engage face-to-face and find ways to create new business opportunities, tackle issues and endeavour to find solutions that better serve existing relationships.”
Conference workshops covered off the Crypto Locker virus, Microsoft Updates and the Microsoft Partner Network (MPN) as well as a sales training session covering the Gold Star Selling program from Friedman Group.
Keynote speaker, Tony Mowbray, an Australian sailor who has circumnavigated the globe, delivered his repeat mantra, asking all to “Dream, Think, Talk, Commit, Act” and led the audience through a narrative of his deadly and notorious 1998 Sydney to Hobart race.
LEC told Appliance Retailer that said its goals were to give its menbers as many important learnings and revisions as possible to help them succeed within a disruptive technology industry.
According to LEC member, from Computer West Busselton, Peter Maccora, “The conversations and the trust that’s built up over those days and evenings is extremely invaluable, I believe it’s a wonderful event and encourages dialogue between vendor partners and LEC Members which you just don’t get at a store level or during a five minute phone call with an account manager.”
Leading Edge Computers general manager, Lee Scott added, “From those important days and nights juggling new concepts and behaviours, it’s really just the start of many conversations. In particular, we look forward to working with our preferred vendor partners and LEC Members who continue to look for new and fruitful ideas to improve their businesses.”
