Winning Services, the logistics arm of Winning Group, was awarded the Environmental Excellence Award at the prestigious Australian Supply Chain and Logistics Awards.

The annual Australian Supply Chain and Logistics Awards recognises the outstanding achievements of supply chain and logistics professionals and organisations across Australia, celebrating industry excellence and championing collaboration, innovation, and success.

The Environmental Excellence Award recognises corporate leadership or projects with the industry contributing to the environmental corporate responsibility, the circular economy and/or protecting the environment.

Winning Services general manager, Harry Boileau said, “We are delighted to receive the Environmental Excellence award from ASCL Awards. This recognition reflects our unwavering commitment to providing legendary care not just for Winning Group and third-party logistics customers, but also for our communities and the planet, aligning with our mission to provide the best experiences in the world, for the world.

“I would like to thank our dedicated Winning Services team across Australia, who are responsible for providing our free take-back and recycling program of old products and packaging. It is because of the hard work of our team that we can have a positive impact on the environment and achieve industry-leading sustainable outcomes.”

Winning Group head of sustainability and industry impact, Alice Kuepper added, “We are proud to have our free take-back and recycling program acknowledged by the supply chain and logistics industry.

“Through our take-back programs customers can recycle e-waste, mattresses and product packaging, preventing harmful chemicals from leaking into the environment, keeping valuable materials in circulation for remanufacture and helping to reduce carbon emissions. Our program addresses a key market failure which is collection of old products and packaging, to achieve positive environmental outcomes.”

Over the past 12 months, Winnings Services has diverted over 12,900 tonnes of materials from landfill and has achieved an average of 85% landfill diversion for packaging waste. To facilitate the recycling of mattresses, Winning Services works where possible with social enterprises such as Soft Landing and Bounce Back who deconstruct mattresses manually and can achieve up to 75% diversion from landfill turning them into roof sheeting, carpet underlay and more.

“While we are proud of our achievements and believe we can create meaningful impact within our ecosystem and industry, we acknowledge that we are only at the start of our sustainability journey. We are committed to continuing to innovate new solutions and to influence changes in our industry, and customer behaviours, by creating awareness on social and environmental issues,” Kuepper said.
